His leg was very stiff when he first got up, and he hopped down the stairs using three legs (pretty graceful, all things considered!) but started putting weight on the leg once we got outside. He had better luck peeing with the cone this morning...he pretty much rammed it into whatever he was trying to pee on until it bent out of his way. And, when we came in he carried the newspaper up the stairs like he always does! As a bonus, he held his head up higher while carrying it, so the cone didn't get caught on the stairs. Of course I didn't have to persuade him to eat his breakfast. No trouble giving him the antibiotics either...I rolled them up in a slice of cheese and he was really happy to take them.

rough night..
We had a rough night. Winston seemed to be really bothered by the collar---he couldn't get comfortable. It's made of fairly stiff plastic, and it seems like it would dig into his neck. He was whimpering a lot, so we thought he might be more comfortable on the trundle bed in the second bedroom. We got him settled on that, and I started out on the daybed portion of the bed. It didn't take long for him to start whimpering again, so I moved down to the trundle bed with him in hopes of making him feel better. No luck. He may have been hot. So we moved back to our bedroom, and finally got him settled on his bed. He started moving around at about 6:30, and would make a few circles (while crashing the cone into the wall, the dresser, and our bed) and then settle back down for about half and hour before starting the process over again. At 8:00, I got up and took him for his walk.
